Where the Pacific Meets the Sea of Cortez
Cabo San Lucas sits at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean. The marina is home to one of Mexico's most active yacht charter fleets, and YACHTSMX® has operated here for over 8 years.
Cabo's protected bay and consistent year-round weather make it one of the best yacht charter destinations in North America — sea conditions are calmest from October through June, with whale season from January to March bringing humpbacks and gray whales just offshore.
Everything you need to know before booking your charter
01 How much does a yacht charter in Cabo San Lucas cost?
Cabo yacht charters range from approximately $44,100 MXN$2,450 USD for an entry-level 4-hour charter on a 50' motor yacht, up to $540,000 MXN$30,000 USD for an 8-hour charter on our 130' flagship superyacht.
Every quote includes captain & crew, fuel, custom menu, and standard water toys. No hidden fees.
02 What's the difference between chartering from Cabo vs. La Paz?
Cabo is the day-charter capital — celebrations, El Arco sunsets, Santa María Bay snorkeling, and short Pacific-side cruises. Most charters are 4 to 8 hours.
La Paz is the expedition base — multi-night Sea of Cortez escapes through Espíritu Santo, Isla Partida and the remote northern islands. Eco-luxury, nature-focused, and quieter.
03 What's included in a private yacht charter with YACHTSMX®?
All YACHTSMX® charters include: licensed captain and crew, fuel, custom menu, bottled water and soft drinks, snorkeling gear, paddleboards or kayaks (where applicable), and check-in assistance. Tips (10–15%) and 16% sales tax are additional. Tax is waived for cash payments.
04 What does a typical Cabo San Lucas yacht charter day look like?
A typical 6-hour Cabo charter departs around 10am from Marina Cabo San Lucas: cruise past El Arco for photos, anchor at Santa María Bay or Chileno Bay for snorkeling and swimming, lunch onboard with your custom menu, then cruise the Cabo corridor back toward the marina. Sunset charters depart around 4pm and return at golden hour past the Arch.
05 What's the best time of year to charter a yacht in Baja California Sur?
October through June is the prime season — calm seas, warm water, and minimal hurricane risk. January to March is whale season, with humpbacks and gray whales just offshore. July through September is hurricane season; charters still run but require flexibility on dates.
06 Can I see whales on a Cabo or La Paz yacht charter?
Yes. Cabo: humpback whales from December to April, with peak activity in January–March. La Paz: dedicated gray whale flights to Magdalena Bay from January to March, plus year-round dolphin pods and sea lion colonies at Los Islotes. Whale shark season runs October through April in the bay just outside La Paz.
07 How far in advance should I book?
Day charters: 2–4 weeks in advance is comfortable. Peak season (Christmas, New Year, Spring Break, July 4th) needs 2–3 months. Multi-night Sea of Cortez packages: 1–3 months in advance for our most-booked yachts. The 10-night Grand Voyage requires advance booking only — typically 4+ months out.
08 Do you offer bachelorette, birthday, and wedding yacht charters?
Yes — celebrations are our specialty. We can arrange custom menus, decoration, photography, music, and shoreside transfers. Bachelorette and birthday charters are best on our Sunseeker 80', Van Dutch 48', or Lagoon 55'. Weddings and large group corporate charters run on our Northern 130' or Azimut 116'. Tell us the occasion in the inquiry form and we'll send a tailored quote.
09 Is YACHTSMX® the boat operator or a broker?
We are the operator. YACHTSMX® and our affiliate YATESMEXICO® operate the fleet directly with our own crews, in our own marina slips in La Paz (Marina Cortez L04) and Cabo (Merkado Local 13). Booking with us means no middleman markup and direct accountability.
10 What payment methods do you accept?
We accept bank transfer, USD/MXN wire, all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), and cash on arrival. The 16% IVA is waived for cash payments. A 50% deposit secures the charter date; the remaining 50% is due 14 days before departure (or upon arrival for cash bookings).
